Health, Social Care and Early Years

Health, Social Care and Early Years is one of the largest employment sectors in West Yorkshire. In 2007, 53,000 people were employed by the NHS in Yorkshire and Humber. With the largest teaching hospital in Europe, the establishment of the new Oncology Centre and the Women and Children's Hospital in Leeds it is clear why this sector has been identified as a priority sector for the development of higher level skills.

It is essential that we plan for the future and invest in the skills of our workforce in order for the sector to respond constructively to the changes in the way services will be organised and delivered in the future.

Download the Sector Brochure to find out more about higher level skills in this sector.

Sector groups - have been set up for each sector and will identify areas of curriculum development, employer engagement and marketing, and staff training and development needs.
