Current Round of Progression Commissioning

The final round of WYLLN Progression Commissioned activity will be focused on 14-19 Diplomas. Projects was commissioned to develop progression agreements, using the WYLLN Progression Agreement Framework, between 14-19 Diploma Level 3 courses and higher education courses within West Yorkshire. The following principles underpined the development of these particular progression agreements in order to encourage the delivery of a common experience across the sub-region to Diploma learners:

  • multi entry progression, achieved via working across consortia wherever possible

and/or

  • multi exit progression, achieved via either one receiving institution or two or more receiving institutions

Funding of up to £3000 per institution per progression agreement was made available from October – April 2010 to achieve the following outcomes:

1. Progression Agreements for Diploma lines currently on offer to be WYLLN recognised and in operation by January 2010.
2. Progression Agreements for Diploma lines due to come on offer from September 2009 or September 2010 to be WYLLN recognised and in operation by March 2010.
3. Progression route information to be made available for a WYLLN 14-19 Diploma Progression publication by April 2010.

Successful 14-19 Diploma Progression Agreement projects
We received project submissions to a value of £293k. However, the funding available for this activity was £125k. The WYLLN 14-19 Steering Group agreed that the funding should be priorities towards:
A) diploma lines currently running with level 3 learners e.g. Creative and Media, Construction and Built Environment
B) diploma lines due to commence with level 3 learners in September 2009 or 2010, which are identified as priorities by a local authority e.g. Society, Health and Development, IT.

Based on those priorities funding has been allocated to the following projects: WYLLN 14-19 Diploma Progression Agreement Funding Allocation – By Diploma Line
