Developing WYLLN 14-19 Diploma Progression Agreements

One of the main objectives for WYLLN during the course of the project is to develop progression agreements within and between institutions in order to provide clarity, coherence and certainty for vocational learners wishing to progress into and through higher education. Currently, one of the key areas for development is the 14-19 Diplomas.

WYLLN has some funding available to support the development of Progression Agreements, using the WYLLN Progression Agreement Framework, between 14-19 Diploma Level 3 courses and higher education courses within West Yorkshire.

Up to £3000 is available per institution per progression agreement and activity must be completed by March 2010.

WYLLN has set out two main outcomes as a result of this activity. Firstly, to establish and implement WYLLN progression agreements for learners on 14-19 Diploma level 3 courses which are either currently on offer or will be on offer from September 2009 within West Yorkshire. The second outcome is to provide details of progression agreements and routes for inclusion in a WYLLN 14-19 Diploma Progression publication to be aimed at young people, parents and carers.

As you may know, the University of Huddersfield is currently undertaking a 14-19 Diploma project on behalf of WYLLN. As part of the project the University has produced an initial database of contacts and details of activity relating to the delivery of the first three diploma lines. The database is now available, please email j.e.beaumont@hud.ac.uk for a copy as it may assist you in identifying potential LA/consortia partners.
