Economic Challenge Investment Fund
The Economic Challenge Investment Fund (ECIF) has come to a very successful conclusion. The WYLLN Partners have supported 1173 people living or working in West Yorkshire and at risk of redundancy due to the current economic downturn, to access Information, Advice and Guidance, Enhanced Job Search Support and both accredited and non-accredited higher level learning and development.
The funding for ECIF activity has now ended.
In April 2009 WYLLN were successful in their bid to HEFCE's Economic Challenge Investment Fund. WYLLN received £999,309 and an equal amount of matched funding was received from Yorkshire Forward and the WYLLN partners.
The project ran until September 2010 and supported individuals suffering from or at risk of suffering from the impact of the economic downturn in West Yorkshire. Activity included enhancing careers guidance currently on offer through JobCentre Plus and Nextstep and activities to help individuals develop further higher level skills or use their existing skills more effectively.
Partner institutions involved in the ECIF project were the University of Huddersfield, University of Leeds, University of Bradford, Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds Trinity University College, Leeds City College, Bradford College, Leeds College of Building, Joseph Priestley College, Calderdale College, Wakefield College.
